From Vast Arc Hues:
Landing’s new EP, titled “Taeppe” (which means “blanket” in Danish), continues their long tradition of EP releases with a mix of their most recognizable modes. Like a warm blanket, this batch of songs are meant to surround and comfort the listener with fuzzy vibrations and soft tones.
“Page After Page”, which is based on an improvisational session between Landing and Kryssi Battalene (The Mountain Movers, Headroom, Medication) which was captured live to tape at Best Video in Hamden, grows and develops over the course of its nearly 9 minutes to include Adrienne Snow’s soft and delicate voice over dubbed out drums and crystalline guitar.
“Tape” begins side B and features Landing in guitarscape/soundworld mode. As guitars ripple and curl around a repetitive, meditative line, the bass modulates the chords and lays a bed for Adrienne’s softly beckoning voice.
“Together” flows out of “Tape” and hearkens back to Landing’s dreampop and shoegaze beginnings. Adrienne and Aaron Snow harmonize over fuzzy guitars and the driving rhythm section of Daron Gardner and John Miller.
“Taeppe” is being released by Vast Arc Hues in an edition of 50 and will be available at shows on their summer 2017 tour.
